I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I was just at an AirBnB apartment building near the UCLA campus this weekend and the underground parking garage for the building had dozens of chargers for the residents. This was not a building for the “rich”… just average.

So, my view (and I could be wrong) is that’s what is going to happen. Buildings, condos, etc will develop the charging infrastructure for overnight charging. Building urban charging stations I don’t think is needed.

As for highway (like east coast as you mention), the stats are pretty well understood…. 95%+ of drivers drive less than 50 miles/day and maybe do one or two long distance trips a year. So, yes, we need that charging infrastructure, but I don’t think it’s as significant as some people think it will be.
